PT Indo Artha Marine has officially secured a significant defense contract from the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) for the supply and integration of two units of 30mm naval weapon systems aboard its patrol vessels, as a continuation of the agreement previously established in 2020
Under this contract, PT Indo Artha Marine delivered the ASELSAN SMASH 30mm Remote Controlled Weapon Stations, each equipped with a 30×173mm automatic cannon, advanced optics, and fire control systems. The systems were procured through our international partners in Turkey and underwent successful factory acceptance tests before installation. By 2021 and late 2023, our engineering team successfully completed the integration of the 30mm Remote Weapon Systems (RWS) on two Bakamla patrol vessels, which included structural deck reinforcement and seamless integration with the ships’ surveillance and tracking radar systems.
Bakamla officials hailed the project as a significant upgrade to their capabilities. “This is a game-changer for our agency,” noted a Bakamla fleet commander during testing. “The addition of the 30mm naval gun gives us the firepower to deter and respond to hostile threats at sea, from illegal fishing protection to intercepting armed smuggling operations.” The remote weapon stations allow operators to engage targets from the safety of the bridge, aided by day/night thermal cameras and a laser rangefinder for accuracy.
PT Indo Artha Marine’s CEO commented on the achievement: “We are honored to contribute to Bakamla’s modernization by delivering world-class weaponry. This contract showcases our ability to manage complex defense procurements and systems integration.” The successful deployment of the 30mm guns is part of a broader push to equip all Bakamla ships with standard weaponry. With this project, PT Indo Artha Marine has further solidified its position as a leading partner in Indonesia’s defense and maritime sector.
